As a board member for Trailhead Community, and a parent of an adult with disabilities, I am invested in this population of amazing, special adults who are in need of our help. I am 71 years of age, and my husband and I are full-time caregivers for our wonderful son, Zach~ an adult with Down Syndrome and a Seizure disorder. I am retired from a career in Early Childhood, and love to do volunteer work in the community. Most of my day time activities include getting Zach to and from a part-time job and day program, putting supports in place at his job at K2 solutions, keeping him active in the community, working part-time for my husband, and helping with my two daughters, and my 4 grandchildren. Trailhead Community is where I chose to put forth my time and energy in the form of volunteering. I believe with all my heart in their mission, and I hope to be of service as they work to build this much-needed community for a population deserving a chance for a “HOME OF THEIR OWN”. There are so few options for those living with D.D., to be able to be close to their friends, and other community members, in a safe and fulfilling environment. Trailhead Community is a project I am passionate about.
